The story

Why SAGE

A teacher can see what each student got right and where they slipped. Writing all of that down, answer by answer, for a whole class, takes more hours than any term has. So the booklets go home in a pile, the marking runs into evenings and weekends, and most of what the teacher noticed never reaches the student.

SAGE starts with the same stack of paper. A teacher scans the booklets with a phone, and SAGE marks every answer against the school’s own scheme. Each student then gets a report about their own work, question by question, and results are ready in a day.

The teacher has the final word. Each mark sits beside the answer it came from, any mark can be changed with a tap, and nothing reaches a student until a teacher signs it off. School leaders see where each class needs support, and parents get a report they can actually read.

SAGE is built for classes 6 to 12 and is in development with schools now.

Scan with any phone

Photograph each page in the phone's browser, with nothing to install. SAGE takes the picture once the page is sharp and asks for a retake when it isn't.

Your own marking scheme

Every answer is checked point by point against the scheme your school already uses, with the student's own words quoted beside each mark.

Reads the whole page

Diagrams, labels and working are checked too. Correct method earns its marks even when the final answer slips.

Teachers decide

Every mark is a draft until a teacher approves it. When handwriting is too hard to read, SAGE leaves the mark for the teacher instead of guessing.

Each student gets a report written to them, covering what earned the marks, what was missing and one thing to work on this week.
